Susan Pargman, owner and director of Drama Kids of Kitsap, Edmonds and Shoreline in the state of Washington, began her theater education in an after-school program when she was 8 years old.
Talk about “Touching Lives Through Theater”! Drama classes helped Susan work through shyness and a serious speech impediment at an impressionable age. Drama classes built up her self-confidence, creative thinking, and language skills, which have served her well all her life.
Because drama was so important to her, Susan earned her BA from Cal State University at San Bernardino where she studied classical drama and creative writing. Over the past 37 years, she’s published several plays, directed shows in California and Washington, taught various drama classes for children and adults, and served as Arts Director at Cross Sound Church on Bainbridge Island for 8 years.
In 2000, she was honored to win the Shubert Fendrich Memorial Playwriting Award through Pioneer Drama with her play “Scheherazade.”
“I’m excited to be an author with Pioneer,” Susan says. “Today, through my Drama Kids classes, I’m privileged to provide a program to help children find their voices... ignite their imaginations... build confidence and character... and provide a sense of playfulness while learning.”
She adds, “I believe we’re meant to ‘pay it forward’ when we’ve been blessed, and that’s why today I love ‘Touching Lives Through Theater’ together with Pioneer Drama.”
